Suzanne Melo

Suzanne Melo is an Optical Engineer at the European Gravitational Observatory, where she plays a key role in advancing the Virgo Interferometer for gravitational wave detection. She is primarily responsible for the Injection subsystem, which ensures accurate coupling between the Pre-Stabilized Laser and the interferometer. She holds a PhD in Emerging Digital Technologies from Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna and has strong expertise in digital and microwave photonics. Suzanne has designed advanced photonic systems for satellite radar and space-based applications, integrating algorithms with RF/optical photonic circuits. She has conducted research in Italy, the UK, and Brazil, contributing to major European initiatives such as ERC-funded projects. Her work includes the development of technical documentation, project deliverables, and participation in international conferences.
