Researchers at School

The “Researchers at School” initiative, part of the PICO project, connects young students with cutting-edge scientific research in accessible and engaging ways. Coordinated by EA and supported by a broad network of schools, the programme brings researchers into classrooms through live talks, interactive workshops, and virtual sessions, making advanced topics such as particle physics and astrophysics approachable. This inclusive effort reaches students in rural and underserved communities, those with special needs, and marginalised groups, with tailored programmes to ensure broad participation.

PICO’s partners contribute numerous hours of direct engagement annually, enabling students to learn from active researchers. Resources like virtual observatory tours and Braille lectures make science accessible for students of all abilities. Teachers also benefit from updated training and resources, empowering them to incorporate contemporary physics into their lessons. This initiative not only fosters scientific interest but also seeks to bridge the gap between science and society, countering misconceptions and inspiring a scientifically literate future generation.
